hard time photographing.

Made four pairs of earrings today; well, finished two and made two more, I should say. But I'm having a helluva time photographing them. I've been using outside lately, because it's been so gorgeous, but I don't know if it's my camera or what - pictures are just NOT turning out.

Blah blah blah...here's one pair I listed today.  The others will have to wait until tomorrow when I can try again with the photographing.

home from Big Sur.

Home, but still mentally in my Paradise, so forgive the lapses into 'aaaaahhhh...'

Sold 4 pieces to ONE incredible person I just met.  Am very excited, and hoping she likes everything!

Mark has finished a dozen lip balms and candles are coming - so excited to post their beauty in the shop!

Okay, here's a dose of paradise for you.  I'll be back tomorrow, but this will be in my dreams tonight:

Experience Metal Day at the MAH

The Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History sponsored an 'Experience Metal' day for the public, giving hands-on workshops and exhibits of art and design by local artists.  What a fun day!!  Here's some of the art:

Beautiful art by students.  Love that swirly choker in the middle!

Oh man, LOVED the bed spring assemblages with the creepy dolls in.  Imagine a few of my friends here dig it, too ;)

This one's even CREEPIER/cooler!  Damn, I wanted to take this home, but it wouldn't fit in my trunk and people were looking.

From an exhibit - LOVE this assemblage - look at the fabulous shoes the ostrich is wearing!

I attended a workshop and made a 'found object' chandelier (well, we all thought it LOOKED like it should be one) out of two rusted bike chains and two scroll-like hooks (maybe for planters?).  I've got it home now and am fastening some things to it, but will take pictures of it soon.  All in all, a really fun way to start the day!

Homage to Calder, Part 2

Finished up the Calder piece today:

Hand forged steel.  This took FOREVER to clean, but it was worth it!  Am looking forward to doing more work with steel.  It challenges me in all the good ways.

Hand forged steel earrings.  I know they look a little - phallic, but honestly? I love the shape of these.  Hah, what does that say about me?  Phbbbbbt.

Have a great rest of the day,
Juliette xoxo

Whoo, it's been hot.

The hot weather has really hit the mountains here.  Thank GOODNESS we have a very cool house, naturally.  But it's made me have to rework my studio schedule.  I will lay things out in the morning, then do correspondence, housework, chores, etc. in the early afternoon and then work on pieces again after the sun goes down.

Here's what I've been working on this week.  Steel and German silver:

I love working free-forming steel.  Thanks, Keith LoBue!

How's everyone?  Did anyone see the meter showers last night?  OH what I would have given to have taken a picture of them!

Much better now.

After a week of sludginess (stomach flu, low fever, blech), I am finally feeling better and ready to start creating tomorrow.

In the dark days (what I call being sick when you really can't do anything), I read lots of your blogs and really got inspired.  I'm really getting back into combining handmade copper components with other materials, like steel and polymer.  Lots of fun ahead!

Really happy with this new baby.  Tide and Rivulets:
