hard time photographing.

Made four pairs of earrings today; well, finished two and made two more, I should say. But I'm having a helluva time photographing them. I've been using outside lately, because it's been so gorgeous, but I don't know if it's my camera or what - pictures are just NOT turning out.

Blah blah blah...here's one pair I listed today.  The others will have to wait until tomorrow when I can try again with the photographing.

  1. I have found the online photo editor www.picmonkey.com to be an absolute godsend for photos. On my pics I usually find reducing the exposure helps (makes it more contrasty), sharpening (because I can never get things in focus) and dropping the saturation a little. You can also add a texture and vignette.

    1. I appreciate your referral to picmonkey! I tried them a while back, but didn't stay. I think it's time to try again. xoxo Juliette

  2. How bizarre! I know I left a comment here...and apparently blogspot zapped it.

Whatever the case, I find it interesting that you're talking about photography...I had issues today too. Normally I have great luck with my DSLR Nikon D300 - but the light was wonky outside this afternoon & the white balance just seemed off. So I pulled out my trusty iPhone & took my pics. heh :)

Love the form folding on the earrings! Can't wait to try it more.

    1. Thanks, Lela!! I read your first comment but not sure what happened to it, either! It's been a strange day for communication (for me) :P

Looking forward to seeing your fold forming!

Honestly, I think I'm in a rut with the photography and need to change focus. Same props, same colors, etc. - I think maybe I'm just not seeing things in new ways. Gotta keep trying! :) xoxo Juliette

  3. Ah yes, photographing earrings. Sometimes I'm in the zone and most often not. Doesn't seem to help with sha ky caffeine hands either. Just starting to get the bead thing down but hanging the earrings is the hardest for me.
I've been driven inside now for my photos between wind, rain and onset of fall with the chill in the air.

    1. Kimberly!! I've missed you. The light changing outside here is really happening quickly, meaning where I would once photograph in the late morning is already in full blast sun by that time. I'm getting ready to set up inside again, since it's time to do a major upload to the Etsy site.

Also, for me I think it's using the same props and colors constantly - I've not changed them around enough and need to think in a 'newish' direction. xoxo Juliette

  5. Hey you! Thanks so much for having a look - your work is a great inspiration to me! I will photograph these hanging up for sure, just have to get the 'inside' photo-taking place set up (read: studio on top of the dryer). Hah!
