Haiti by Hand

I recently learned about Rebecca and her blog to raise funds for Haiti, and wanted to share her project with you. It's called 'Haiti by Hand,' and she has an Etsy shop for the project as well. Here's from a recent post:

We are finally able to take a breath and put a call out for you creative souls to join our efforts. I have been floored by how many of you have contacted me to offer your help. Many of you have said that you don't have a lot of cash to send but that you would be willing to donate an item to sell in the Haiti By Hand etsy shop.

And now we'll take you up on that!

We are looking for art pieces, handcrafted items, original patterns, kits or downloadable instructions that you are willing to contribute to Haiti By Hand.

Just as a reminder, Haiti By Hand is an artisan group forming in Despinos, Haiti. Donations to this group of women (many single moms) will go directly to empowering these women to bring in their own income to provide for their children and families. You are helping in a very tangible way to transform a life when you contribute....

Okay, so let's not grow weary in doing well. If you want to contribute items for the HBH etsy shop, email me. If you want to find out how to get items down to Despinos, email me.

I'm expecting a full inbox by day's end :) (have I told you lately how much I love you?)

grace & peace,

Oh! and don't forget to "priye pou Ayiti" (pray for Haiti).

It doesn't take much to make a difference, and Rebecca and her project has made it easy. Think of what you could do to help - by being creative, no less!

Thanks for reading - Lots of love! - Juliette

Yele Haiti

handmade beehives, northern Haiti.

My heart is heavy today with thoughts of Haiti. In the midst of the sorrow, I found a site to share on Haitian beekeepers and a Florida group who is helping them. If you have a few minutes, take a look:

Happy New Year!

I've not been a faithful blogger lately, but this is soon to change. :)

Wishing you a New Year full of joy, good health, and prosperity.

And as one of my very favorite authors once gave an incredible address for the New Year, I thought I'd post it here - I couldn't agree with him more:

"May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness.
I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art - write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can.

May your coming year be a wonderful thing in which you dream both dangerously and outrageously.

I hope it'll make something that didn't exist before you made it, that you will be loved and you will be liked and you will have people to love and to like in return. And most importantly, because I think there should be more kindness and more wisdom in the world right now - I hope that you will, when you need to be, be wise and that you will always be kind.

And I hope that somewhere in the next year you surprise yourself."
- Neil Gaiman
